AUSOM Announcements - September 2008

Monthly meeting - Saturday, 6 September 2008

Main presentation - Stock Doctor® on the Mac
Simon Blair - Lincoln Indicators

Simon will demonstrate the use of Stock Doctor®, a well-known and very  
popular stocks analysis package. The demonstration will serve also as  
a good example of using VMWare Fusion to run Windows applications on  
the Mac.

Members and visitors attend Swinburne Univeristy, Prahran Campus (High  
Street, Prahran) on the first Saturday of each month (except January).  
The meeting runs between 9.30am and 5.00pm. Special interest group  
meetings cover using Apple Macs in digital photography, iPods, home  
movies, genealogy, finance, databases, the Internet, Excel, Word,   
networking and many other topics. The location is convenient to tram  
and train and there is ample parking. Lunch may be purchased on site  
and vendors sell small computer items such as CDs, DVDs, ink jet  
cartridges, cables, etc. We have a monthly raffle of valuable prizes  
such as iWork software, the iPod shuffle etc.

Monthly meeting guest speaker - 4 October

Adobe Ambassador and an Adobe Certified Training Provider, Mike  
McHugh, will be guest speaker at the main meeting on 4 October. He'll  
present an illuminating and exciting demonstration of Adobe's Creative  
Suite 3 Master Collection.

Currently a Creative Systems Engineer with Adobe and widely considered  
a guru in the industry, Mike's talk will cover the new CS3 products,  
highlighting print, animation, web and video capabilities of the suite.

Multimedia SIG - Tuesday, 9 September 2008
Billy Hyde Music - Jason Doonan will discuss Audio Products
CMI Music and Audio - Jason Hearn will discuss virtual software synths

The Macintosh Multimedia Group [3MG] is a joint venture between AUSOM  
Inc and iMug. It meets on the second Tuesday of each month at the  
Balwyn Baptist Church (cnr Whitehorse and Parring Roads,  Melway 46  
F8) from 7.00pm to 10pm (doors open at 7pm).

This group meets on the second Wednesday of each month at the Balwyn

10am to 12noon.

AUSOM Committee of Management Meetings
The AUSOM Committee of Management (CoM) usually meets on the Wednesday  
night two weeks before the next Main Meeting (this is usually, but not  
always the the second Wednesday of each month) at 247 Flinders Lane,  
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

If you'd like to submit information for the Committee's consideration,  
please email com at ausom.net.au or write to AUSOM Committee, 247  
Flinders Lane, Melbourne 3000.  If the submission is received by the  
Monday evening prior to the Committee Meeting, it can be placed on the  
agenda for consideration at that next meeting, otherwise it may be  
held over until the meeting.
