AUSOM Announcements - August 2008

Monthly meeting - Saturday, 2 August 2008

Main presentation - Canon's Pixma range of printers
Michelle Tuddenhaum (Canon Australia)

Members and visitors attend Swinburne Univeristy, Prahran Campus (High
Street, Prahran) on the first Saturday of each month (except January).
The meeting runs between 9.30am and 5.00pm. Special interest group
meetings cover using Apple Macs in digital photography, iPods, home
movies, genealogy, finance, databases, the Internet, Excel, Word,
networking and many other topics. The location is convenient to tram
and train and there is ample parking. Lunch may be purchased on site
and vendors sell small computer items such as CDs, DVDs, ink jet
cartridges, cables, etc. We have a monthly raffle of valuable prizes
such as iWork software, the iPod shuffle etc.

'iPhone Accessories' and 'A Creative Software Title' - Stephen

The Macintosh Multimedia Group [3MG] is a joint venture between AUSOM
Inc and iMug. It meets on the second Tuesday of each month at the
Balwyn Baptist Church (cnr Whitehorse and Parring Roads, Melway 46
F8) from 7.00pm to 10pm (doors open at 7pm).

This group meets on the second Wednesday of each month at the Balwyn
Baptist Church (cnr Whitehorse and Parring Roads, Melway 46 F8) from
10am to 12noon.

AUSOM Committee of Management Meetings
The AUSOM Committee of Management (CoM) usually meets on the Wednesday
night two weeks before the next Main Meeting (this is usually, but not
always the the second Wednesday of each month) at 247 Flinders Lane,
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

If you'd like to submit information for the Committee's consideration,
please email com at ausom.net.au or write to AUSOM Committee, 247
Flinders Lane, Melbourne 3000. If the submission is received by the
Monday evening prior to the Committee Meeting, it can be placed on the
agenda for consideration at that next meeting, otherwise it may be
held over until the meeting.

Disc of the month - Audiophile
The August 2008 Disc of the Month is a collection of over 50 useful
and interesting audio and music tools for the Mac. Cost $10.

AUSOM regularly produces a Disc of the Month that goes on sale on the
first Saturday of each month at our Monthly Meeting. It can be
purchased a the Saturday meeting, by contacting the AUSOM Office on

AUSOM and the BabyBoomers Lifestyle Expo, 16-18 August 2008
Together with about 150 other exhibitors, AUSOM will have a stand at
the 'BabyBoomers Lifestyle Expo', now in its fourth year. Drop in and
see us at Stand 92.

The Expo is at Melbourne Exhibition Centre, 2 Clarenden Street,
Southbank. As well as a range of exhibitors, there will be an
extensive seminar program over the three days.

It's open Saturday-Monday (16-18 August) 10am - 5pm. Why not take
advantage of the two-for-one ticket offer for AUSOM members? See the
August edition of AUSOM News for details. Otherwise, the Admission Fee
for Adults is $10 (Concession: $6).

If you're interested, your Boomer ticket will also provide entry to
the Australian Business and IT Expo next door.

There's wheelchair access and refreshments on-site. Last year 13,000
visited the Expo over the three days.
