Monthly meeting - Saturday, 4 October 2008

Main presentation - Adobe guru talks Creative Suite Master Collection
Mike McHugh - Adobe Ambassador and an Adobe Certified Training Provider

Mike will present an illuminating and exciting demonstration of  
Adobe's Creative Suite 4 Master Collection. He'll cover the new CS4  
products highlighting the print, animation, web and video capabilities  
of the suite.

Mike established and managed his own digital graphics business in  
Melbourne for many years. Currently a Melbourne-based Creative Systems  
Engineer with Adobe, Mike is the author of several books and hosts his  
popular video podcast called Creative Sweet TV -  
www.creativesweettv.com. He regularly speaks at conferences and has  
taught thousands how to use Adobe software.

Members and visitors attend Swinburne Univeristy, Prahran Campus (High  
Street, Prahran) on the first Saturday of each month (except January).  
The meeting runs between 9.30am and 5.00pm. Special interest group  
meetings cover using Apple Macs in digital photography, iPods, home  
movies, genealogy, finance, databases, the Internet, Excel, Word,   
networking and many other topics. The location is convenient to tram  
and train and there is ample parking. Lunch may be purchased on site  
and vendors sell small computer items such as CDs, DVDs, ink jet  
cartridges, cables, etc. We have a monthly raffle of valuable prizes  
such as iWork software, the iPod shuffle etc.

Multimedia SIG - Tuesday, 7 October 2008
Bill Oldham will demonstrate a number of software tools that Google  
has put at the disposal of users. You can share information,  
collaborate with others, set up a personal social network on the  
internet and much more.

The Macintosh Multimedia Group [3MG] is a joint venture between AUSOM  
Inc and iMug. It meets on the second Tuesday of each month (except  
this month) at the Balwyn Baptist Church (cnr Whitehorse and Parring  
Roads,  Melway 46 F8) from 7.00pm to 10pm (doors open at 7pm).

Retirees & Others SIG - Wednesday, 8 October 2008
Graphic artist Grant Gittus will present 'From the Idea to the Printed  
Page'.

This group meets on the second Wednesday of each month at the Balwyn  
Baptist Church (cnr Whitehorse and Parring Roads,  Melway 46 F8) from  
10am to 12noon.

AUSOM Committee of Management Meetings
The AUSOM Committee of Management (CoM) usually meets on the Wednesday  
night two weeks before the next Main Meeting (this is usually, but not  
always the the second Wednesday of each month) at 247 Flinders Lane,  
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

If you'd like to submit information for the Committee's consideration,  
please email com at ausom.net.au or write to AUSOM Committee, 247  
Flinders Lane, Melbourne 3000.  If the submission is received by the  
Monday evening prior to the Committee Meeting, it can be placed on the  
agenda for consideration at that next meeting, otherwise it may be  
held over until the meeting.

Disc of the month - Hobby Mac Vol 1/Adobe Installers
HobbyMac Volume One is a collection of software that allows you to use  
your Mac to help pursue your favourite hobbies. It includes more than  
50 applications to assist you pursue over two dozen different hobby  
types.

30-day trial installers of Adobe's range of products are available on  
three sets of DVDs. Installers include Illustrator CS3, InDesign CS3,  
Photoshop CS3, Photoshop Elements 6.0, Dreamweaver CS3, After Effects  
CS3 and Premiere Pro CS3.

AUSOM regularly produces a Disc of the Month that goes on sale on the  
first Saturday of each month at our Monthly Meeting. It can be
