Monthly meeting - Saturday, 7 February 2009

Main presentation - Apple reviews MacWorld at AUSOM

Apple Inc Systems Engineer, Joe Cox, will be guest speaker at 1.00pm,  
talking about outcomes from Apple's recent Macworld Conference & Expo  
in San Francisco.

He will review some of the software and hardware announcements made at  
MacWorld, focussing on iLife '09, iWork '09 and the new 17-inch  
MacBook Pro.

Members and visitors are invited to attend. The meeting runs between  
9.30am and 5.00pm. Special interest group meetings cover using Apple  
Macs in digital photography, iPods, home movies, genealogy, finance,  
databases, the Internet, Excel, Word,  networking and many other  
topics. Lunch may be purchased on site. We have a monthly raffle of  
valuable prizes including software and hardware.

Multimedia SIG - Tuesday, 10 February 2009
Topic and speaker: TBC

The Macintosh Multimedia Group [3MG] is a joint venture between AUSOM  
Inc and iMug. It meets on the second Tuesday of each month at the  
Balwyn Baptist Church (cnr Whitehorse and Parring Roads,  Melway 46  
F8) from 7.00pm to 10pm (doors open at 7pm).

Retirees & Others SIG - Wednesday, 11 February 2009
Geoff Wallace - 'Getting the Most out of Mail.' Geoff will discuss  
setting up the application and organising preferences to make Mail do  
what you want.

Jack Emmins - 'The GPS System'. Jack will discuss general and  
specialised uses of GPS.

This group meets on the second Wednesday of each month at the Balwyn  
Baptist Church (cnr Whitehorse and Parring Roads,  Melway 46 F8) from  
10am to 12noon.

AUSOM Committee of Management Meetings
The AUSOM Committee of Management (CoM) usually meets on the Wednesday  
night two weeks before the next Main Meeting (this is usually, but not  
always the the second Wednesday of each month) at 247 Flinders Lane,  
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

If you'd like to submit information for the Committee's consideration,  
please email com at ausom.net.au or write to AUSOM Committee, 247  
Flinders Lane, Melbourne 3000.  If the submission is received by the  
Monday evening prior to the Committee Meeting, it can be placed on the  
agenda for consideration at that next meeting, otherwise it may be  
held over until the meeting.

Disc of the month - Cards, Boards & Dice
The February Disc of the Month is actually a two CD set entitled  
'Cards, Boards & Dice'. There are hundreds of different Card Games,  
Board Games and Dice Games to play in solitude, against computer  
opponents and even against human players across the internet ... Say  
goodbye to your spare time, and not so spare time ;)

AUSOM regularly produces a Disc of the Month that goes on sale on the  
first Saturday of each month at our Monthly Meeting. It can be
