Monthly meeting - Saturday, 1 August 2009

Brendan Field from DesignWyse — Backing up

One of the most talked-about but least well observed techniques among  
computer users is that of backing up. Brendan will discuss the  
principles of a good backup strategy, and some of the tools that can  
be brought to bear on the task.

The meeting runs between 9.30am and 5.00pm, with the keynote  
presentation starting at 1.00 pm.

There's something for every Mac, iPod, and iPhone user. AUSOM  
publishes its own monthly printed magazine and hosts about 20 special  
interest groups. Member services include an online discussion forum  
with answers to everything on computing and beyond; book and disk  
libraries; phone help by experts in their respective fields; discounts  
on CDs and books; and lots more!

The Macintosh Multimedia Group [3MG] is a joint venture between AUSOM  
Inc and iMug. It meets on the second Tuesday of each month at the  
Balwyn Baptist Church (cnr Whitehorse and Parring Roads,  Melway 46  
F8) from 7.30pm to 10pm (doors open at 7pm).

You've probably heard that Keynote is 'soooo' much better than  
Powerpoint for creating presentations. Pam will show us just how easy  
it is to use, as well.

AUSOM Committee of Management Meetings
The AUSOM Committee of Management (CoM) usually meets on the Wednesday  
night two weeks before the next Main Meeting (this is usually, but not  
always the the third Wednesday of each month) at 247 Flinders Lane,  
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

If you'd like to submit information for the Committee's consideration,  
please email com at ausom.net.au or write to AUSOM Committee, 247  
Flinders Lane, Melbourne 3000.  If the submission is received by the  
Monday evening prior to the Committee Meeting, it can be placed on the  
agenda for consideration at that meeting, otherwise it may be held  
over until the next meeting.

The Internet Alternatives Disc is a collection of sixty applications  
that allow you to download files, images and movies; chat instantly

at our Monthly Meeting. It can be purchased a the Saturday meeting or

The AUSOM calendar of events
Why not keep up with AUSOM events by subscribing to the AUSOM iCal  
calendar. It lists all meetings each month and includes meeting  
topics, speakers, locations, times and URLs for additional  
information. To subscribe, choose 'Calendar/Subscribe' in iCal, enter

and click on 'Subscribe'.

Changes to the calendar are made regularly. To keep your copy up to  
date, Control-click the 'AUSOM-Meetings' calendar in iCal and choose

pop-up menu
