AUSOM Announcements - September 2009
Monthly meeting - Saturday, 5 September 2009
Main presentation:
Garage Band SIG members — Performing Arts Extravaganza
The Garage Band Special Interest Group commenced in 2007 following
requests by interested members, some of whom were trained musicians.
Others were movie makers wanting to make original soundtracks to their
movies. The strength of this SIG is the diversity of members and their
willingness to share their skills. Here's your chance to see them show
off some of their work.
The meeting runs between 9.30am and 5.00pm, with the keynote
presentation starting at 1.00 pm.
There's something for every Mac, iPod, and iPhone user. AUSOM
publishes its own monthly printed magazine and hosts about 20 special
interest groups. Member services include an online discussion forum
with answers to everything on computing and beyond; book and disk
libraries; phone help by experts in their respective fields; discounts
on CDs and books; and lots more!

tools like iPhoto but is nevertheless very useful.
At this meeting there will be a door prize for one lucky person of a

Topics and speakers:
Ross Taylor — Adobe LightRoom
Adobe LightRoom is an application dealing with the whole work flow for
digital imaging from importing to sharing enhanced photos. It is
powerful enough to allow the professional to handle vast photo
libraries but is also straight forward enough to be of great use to
the amateur photographer.
Ron Webster — iChat
Ron will demonstrate setting up the iChat program that's part of the
Mac OS X installation. You can use iChat for all kinds of personal
communication services from text and audio/video chat to screen
sharing via the Web.
At this meeting there will be a door prize for one lucky person of a
Snow Leopard eBook.
This group meets on the second Wednesday of each month at the Balwyn
Baptist Church (cnr Whitehorse and Parring Roads, Melway 46 F8) from

Now ... about the Apple Store affiliate program
By participating in Affiliate Programs, AUSOM can earn small but
useful commissions from on-line purchases you make, without any cost
to you.
Clicking on the Apple Store button on AUSOM's homepage, <http://ausom.net.au
>, will take you directly to the Australian Apple Store, and you
conduct your business there in the normal way. You are under no
obligation to purchase anything — you may simply 'window-shop' if you
wish.
I tried it last Friday (28 August) to buy Snow Leopard ... clicked the
button, was put straight through to the Apple Store where I ordered as
usual. The parcel arrived today (1 September). Pretty snazzy!
Why not give it a whirl and give AUSOM the chance to financially
benefit?
We'll include some information about other affiliates in future
editions.
