TouchSmart Publishing to Jointly Present Paper with professor Michael
Seth Mott PhD, Purdue University Calumet
TouchSmart Publishing and Purdue University researcher are presenting a
joint paper at the Association of Educational Communications and
Technology conference in Chicago.
(PRWEB) October 21, 2004 -- TouchSmart Publishing LLC, today announced
a joint presentation at the Association for Educational Communications
and Technology (AECT) Conference in Chicago, Illinois in the Hilton
Chicagos Lake Ontario Room, 8th Floor for 75 minutes. The presentation
will be conducted from 800am until 915am, EST on October 23, 2004, in
the Hilton Chicago located at 720 South Michigan Avenue, telephone
1.312.922.4400.
This is the first joint presentation between TouchSmart Publishing and
professor Michael Seth Mott, Purdue University Calumet.
With our technology and Dr. Motts research prowess, this should be a
great first presentation in an international forum, said Jason
Barkeloo, TouchSmart Publishings President. I cannot think of a
better partner in presenting the possibilities for the future of
textbook publishing and accessibility to digital content for students
than Dr. Mott.
According to researcher, Dr. Mott TouchSmart Publishing products could
meet the needs of a wide-array of struggling readers."
The joint presentation (41-LO) is entitled Providing Prescriptive
Digital Content to All Students: One Student - One Book versus All
Students One Book. This presentation will cover a new educational
textbook development model best described as a customized textbook
model instead of a generic textbook model forcing the teacher or
instructor to modify for those students with special needs. The enabler
for this model of customized content distribution is a new technology
that allows a student to press pictures and/or words on the printed
page in the book that then connects wirelessly to the digital content.
This technology, referred to as a touch user interface (TUI)
technology, allows front-end, paper-based content to serve as a remote
control to back-end, digital content. The digital content is then
presented on a PC/Mac or TV via DVD player.
