[CitizensTruth] Raid on polygamist community

I'm very much anti-government control over our lives. However, I am all for intelligent intervention to rescue children from sexual and other abuse.
For example, when the gov't raided Waco, I was all for it in theory, for 2 reasons -- Koresh was sexually abusing young girls (with their stupid parents' consent). And his ever-growing cache of illegal weapons pretty much demonstrated he meant it when he had widely broadcasted before: "Blood will run in the streets of Waco."
Koresh turned a group of religious fanatics (legal) into an appalling criminal operation (illegal). Those children couldn't be rescued soon enough, in my opinion.
BUT -- as I said -- I'm all for INTELLIGENT intervention. The ATF totally blew that! I remember watching the coverage with my mouth agape, trying to decide who was dumber -- the ham-handed ATF operation -- or the parents inside who were irresponsible and disgusting enough to turn their daughters over to Koresh.
And how awful now in the polygamy raids -- they had an undercover agent in there for 4 years who knew that young girls were used for sexual slavery -- ownership often against their will by what can only be TRUTHFULLY described as dirty old men! Why didn't the raid take place long ago??
And what's wrong with people who look askance at removing kids from sexual abuse?

Subject: [CitizensTruth] Raid on polygamist community
When I first glanced at it, I initially saw this story simply as a tabloid style / whip the public into a frenzy over nothing so we can really do something meaningful back here kind of thing.
However doing a bit of internet reading alarms started going off in my head... reading things like this quote sounded a lot less like the usual simple media hysteria and a lot more to me like actions of a shifting society as described in The End of America: Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot by Naomi Wolf
"When was the last anti-polygamy prosecution?
About 1953, the state of Arizona National Guard raided a polygamist colony called Short Creek on the Utah/Arizona border, and separated the kids from their mothers, and threw the men in jail. The people of the nation were so outraged by it, that there have not been polygamy prosecutions since. (Unless you want to consider Waco to be an anti-polygamist raid.) So while polygamy is not legal, the laws against it are not enforced."
from http://www.sltrib.com/polygamy
So reading that law enforcement has removed over 400 children from their homes based on an prank call sounds pretty darned alarming to me from that perspective.
