The entire "obliterate Iran" incident is appalling. But I think it's
important to do a little media analysis and not play the game of
getting fired up over a context-free sound bite.
Video from ABC's Good Morning America:

Note:
1. Chris Cuomo's question. The exchange was started with ABC (Disney)
Chris Cuomo asking about a hypothetical situation in which Iran
attacks Israel with nuclear weapons. Isn't there something repugnant
about the question? Something wicked this way comes. The interview is
about war games and posturing. What if the bad guys do so-and-so?
Naomi Wolf, Step 1: Invoke a terrifying and external enemy.
I think there are enemies to our well-being much closer and more
threatening than the people of Iran.
2. Robin Roberts, on redirect. She asks Barack Obama for his response
to Hillary's "very tough talk... she [Hillary] is very forceful, she
is very exact in what she would do". Roberts could just as easily
said that Hillary was cavalier, glib, and ready to kill millions of
innocent civilians for the actions of their rulers. Somehow this all
seems insane. But then, I'm not a regular viewer of ABC and Good
Morning America, so I may still have part of my soul intact.
3. Another story to break around the same time is the case of the
Pentagon Pundits.
Media facilitate Iraq propaganda effort
http://www.fair.org/index.php?page=3349
the Pentagon recruited over 75 retired generals to act as "message
force multipliers" in support of the Iraq War, receiving special
Pentagon briefings and talking points that the analysts would often
parrot on national television "even when they suspected the
information was false or inflated."
As any conscious person might deduce, the FAIR alert goes on to point
out:
Of course, the Pentagon's propaganda plan would have little effect if
not for the enthusiastic participation of the corporate media.
4. One way to conclude this is to say that come McCain, Clinton, or
Obama, there will still be plenty of machinery in place to a) deflect
attention from vast and urgent problems under our very noses and b)
bring on more war and senseless killing until we say enough.
