ARE YOU SUPPORTING BARACK OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT?



“HOPE” is a big word…

and in Obama’s hopes to become commander-in-chief,

everything that YOU hope for is – according to the Democratic Party –
in his hands.



When you look at reality – what do you see?



You see the war in Iraq and Afghanistan. You see the threat of a new
(possibly nuclear) war on Iran. You see immigrants being demonized,
war criminals being sanctified, and the inauguration of a New American Torture State. YOU and hundreds of millions of others
here and around the world hope for all this to be brought to a halt and
this whole “Bush Nightmare” reversed.



Four Questions to Ask Yourself Today:  



    Where does Barack Obama stand on America’s endless war? Do you
want to settle for this?



Obama will not end the Iraq war. He plans to "redeploy combat brigades
from Iraq at a pace of 1 to 2 brigades a month that would remove them
in 16 months” – while sending 14,000 of them to expand the war in Afghanistan! He has never called the war categorically illegal and
immoral, or a war crime. Instead he calls for a troop increase and "the
first truly 21st century military ... We must maintain the strongest,
best-equipped military in the world."



Obama has threatened (several times) to attack Iran, including with
nukes, over nukes Iran doesn’t have. He’s threatened (several times)
to attack Pakistan and he embraces Israel as if it were the 51st state.


In Miami in August 2007, he said as president he would not lift the
U.S. embargo against Cuba because it is "an important inducement for
change.”



And ask yourself: Why would any “peace candidate” have as his top
foreign policy advisers Zbigniew Brzezinski and Madeleine Albright?



    Where does Barack Obama stand on torture? Do you want to settle
for this?



After 8 years of this abominable Bush Regime, after all we now know
about the secret renditions and secret torture sites, and the White
House meetings where the torture was planned at the top – after the
rest of the world has come to know that America has been guilty of war
crimes and crimes against humanity – is Barack Obama saying it’s time
to hold these people accountable?  No, Obama says there will be
“investigations,” BUT he is promising there will be NO prosecutions
during his first term (four long years).  



    Where does Barack Obama stand on the fascist FISA bill? Do you
want to settle for this?



In light of all we now know about the spying and lying, and the
construction of a whole new outrageous level of state spying on people
in this country, what does Obama say about these clearly impeachable
offenses? Does he distance himself from the outrages and crimes of the
Bush Regime? When the FISA bill came up, Obama said he would vote
against it. Then he voted for it.



    Where does Obama stand on the persecution of immigrants? Do you
want to settle for this?



Obama voted for the 2006 Secure Fence Act, which authorized
construction of the five segments of the new wall along the
U.S./Mexican border.



And as for “Camp X-Ray (Denver)”…. Obama supporters should be demanding
that he denounce the political repression now being set up to attack
the courageous protestors heading for Denver to raise the anti-war
message in the streets outside the Democratic National Convention. If
Obama and the top leaders of his Party said they do not want the cages,
barbed wire, stun guns, and wholesale “fusion” of law enforcement and
political surveillance now being assembled for the DNC (and who says it
will be dismantled after the DNC?) – what do you bet would happen? Their silence about these police state measures is… deafening.



KEEP THIS FLYER. Take it home and stick it on your refrigerator. Over
the next 6 months -- as the elections roll on, and the candidates keep
talking and acting, and as the next president takes office and carries
out the presidential mission – ask yourself these same questions
again. And then …. 



DON’T plunge into despair and political paralysis. Call us. We know
what it will take to truly bring all this to a halt. The World Can’t
Wait – for the mass resistance and independent action of the people,
which is the ONLY way to make the change you are hoping for. No matter
who the president is.
