I believe that the entire election was a farce.  Palin and McCain were picked to provide an easy target for Obama.  Ron Paul was the only viable opponent to any democrat and he was shut down.

Are there two opposing parties?  I think the Republicans were told to keep a thousand miles away from this by the people who really run things.
