A couple weeks ago there was a debate at the annual World Can't  
Wait / Drive Out the Bush Regime conference, arguing pro and con  
whether Barack Obama is a leader we can "work with". The event was  
well attended and reflects a present challenge.

Among people who work at staying informed and who feel deeply  
betrayed by a system that allowed the malevolence of the departing  
regime, Obama's victory raises a question where we put our energies now.

A split is happening. One way to describe it is, people who are  
called to continue dissent vs. people who see a fundamental shift and  
are called to work within the new system. Many of us feel some pull  
in both directions.

I watched Barack Obama's Dec 6 video address at http://change.gov and  
looked over the invitations to participate. I see a huge difference  
from the last 8 years.

I spent much of yesterday with a group of organizers in the IL 8th  
and 10th US Congressional Districts strategizing how best to get  
affordable health care for every man, woman, and child in this  
country. The energy was palpable. The ideas were specific and  
constructive. I'm there.
