Today I did a repair at the home of a local executive for the Steel 
Workers Union,
and the conversation got around to the World Trade center collapses.
 
He said that he, and everyone he works with knew that something was 
wrong when
they saw the buildings fall - because there couldn't have been enough 
heat to effect
the steel.
 
The steel floor trusses for the WTC were made here in Alton at Laclede 
Steel, and
besides their tensile strength, had been dipped in a fire retardant coating.
 
He also stated that after 9-11 the Feds came into Laclede and 
confiscated all their paperwork
 regarding that contract.
 
Laclede Steel went bankrupt in 2002 and was replaced by Alton Steel in 2003

I also talked to an employee at Olin Winchester in  East Alton, and 
asked if the economy
was affecting them.
 
He stated that they were in full production without a slowdown in sight,
 and that the federal Gubment was buying all the ammunition they produced
