Gold is not money, and it is not constitutional.

The Constitution gives Congress the power to coin (as in create) money 
and regulate the value thereof and it limits those things the states may 
use as money. NO WHERE does it say gold is money. Early on, gold and 
silver did serve as money, inasmuch as they could be mined by anyone and 
turned into standard coins for free at the US Mint, just as a farmer 
could use his hemp or tobacco crop to pay taxes. But this all ended with 
the Coinage Act of 1873, sometimes called the Crime of '73.

The belief that gold is money is based upon a flawed concept of money. 
Whether money takes the form of gold, paper, sea shells or any other 
form misses what the true function of money is and how that function 
might best be met. There are many problems with using gold as money, not 
the least of which has to do with the fact that gold has, since ancient 
Babylonia, been the money of kings. (Read this 1878 article by Lysander

As the money of kings, gold is and always has been owned by kings, 
controlled by kings - and when it suits them it is taken away by kings. 
Consider FDR's confiscation of the people's gold, which a mere few 
months afterwords he converted to profit by revaluing the dollar so that 
the debts of the bankers might be paid. The confiscated gold was then 
held in fort Knox and made subject to “a future agreement among the 
Nations of the World for a redistribution of the world stock of gold”.

Our lack of understanding about the true nature of money has enabled the 
banking elite to subvert our Constitution a piece at at time and put in 
its place a sovereign power structure that has taken this country from 
one based on the unalienable rights of a sovereign people to a 
constitutional dictatorship that can only be sustained by militarism and 
fear.
