All,

Re: Look! bush former mouthpiece blows the whistle!

Right on!

Two interesting items, practically across the columns from each other, on buzzflash.com today:

1) Pinochet suspects arrests ordered
"The round-up is one of the biggest of its kind since the military leader's rule ended 18 years ago...Most of the arrest orders issued on Monday were for former members of Dina, (Pinochet's feared secret police force)...Since the return to democracy in 1990, Chile has put dozens of soldiers, policemen, and intelligence agents on trial for human rights abuses"

2) New book by same attorney who prosecuted Charles Manson, setting out in straight legal terms the case for impeaching Bush.

Chile sets an example: there is no time limit to holding officials accountable for war crimes and civil rights abuses; there is no official too "high" to be held accountable. (While Pinochet was shielded to some extent by the claim of poor health and never faced trial, he was accused and outed.

This suggests a convincing case for accountability to present to the general public, which contains many who are very hesitant to "attack" a President, among other reasons, not always conscious, that they identify him with the nation itself:

If Chile can rise to the occasion and rectify past errors, shouldn't the United States, long held as the standard bearer of democracy, do the same?
