I think Iggy (who I don't know BTW) makes a valid point. Whatever the left or right labels, pretty much all of what I've seen on this list had to do with issues and perspectives that were not getting a hearing in the mainstream media and often were suppressed outright, from truly anti-war perspectives (as opposed to those who want to fight a "smarter war") to those who know we aren't hearing the real story behind 9/11, etc. etc. 

I have to disagree, however,  that those on the "left" now have little or no driving reason to continue "fighting the power," to put it in those terms, although far too many suffer from that delusion. I recommend you all take a few minutes and read the first in a new series on "The Era of Obama: The Collapse of 'The Movement,' the Resistance and the Revolutionary Movement We Need" in the current issue of Revolution newspaper, at http://revcom.us/a/162/collapse-en.html. While this article speaks mainly to the anti-war movement, there are points that apply more broadly and I'd be curious to know what other people on this list think of the analysis in it.

Back to Iggy's point about this "Tea Party" movement, it IS remarkable that now not only Fox News but NPR and other media outlets are promoting this BEFORE the events even happen! Has that happened to a lot of activities you all have organized? Not that I've seen! We get next to no coverage when there are 1000s in the street. 

We are in a very tense moment right now in this country and the world, with huge stakes, and the ruling class (or call it the establishment or whatever you want--those holding the power and commanding the military might) is faced with huge problems that we will bear the brunt of--from ongoing wars, increasing military budgets, financial meltdown ameliorated by mega-bailouts of the financial forces at the heart of it, cuts in social services just when they are most desperately needed, and only the prospect of more and worse. So now we get a supposedly liberal president who we're supposed to believe has our best interests at heart in charge of all of the above? Far too many good people are buying this and taking a "wait and see" attitude that only enables the above scenario of rescuing a bankrupt SYSTEM (not just Wall Street or any other element thereof) while crimes in our name escalate and millions suffer here and around the world. (Just two very current
 examples: There are now estimated to be 15,000 homeless children in New York CITY alone, and one million people have been driven from their homes in NW Pakistan by US military drones devastating whole villages there. in recent weeks)

Now we have a 'populist movement' springing up around the country, heralded by media across the extremely narrow spectrum of 'acceptable opinion,' that has an equally narrow and individualist message that may well be aimed at destabilizing that same president. I for one don't know enough about this movement and would appreciate any information and background that others can share about it, preferably from a range of sources. But it is certainly reasonable to point out the disparity of what purports to be a movement of protest being built through the very media that has been complicit with pretty much everything we all have been protesting for years.

Over the years all who are left had a driving reason which 
seems all but lost now and I have not posted in a very long time because of 
the changing theme. 
 
I do read both sides and I am seeing what started as 
a unifying reason that gave cause for us all to join this list all but gone and 
now being used by parties that have been hijacked or at a minimum not realize 
they now are doing the business of the power that has stifled us all these 
years.
 
Come on now, this is being pushed by FOX new. If that is 
not a tell al I do not know what is....
 
Please remove me from this list as its purpose is 
lost.
