[CitizensTruth] Curious how many of you think

I am so impressed with the two good and powerful women who were most
responsible for raising Obama -- a mom who was the OPPOSITE of ashamed of
her "half-breed" boy back in the 60's, who got up, and got HIM up, at 4:00
am to coach his academic skills, and who, incidentally, pioneered
micro-loans for impoverished third-world women --
and then, when Barack was 10, coming under the wing of his mom's mom who
worked her way up to be one of the few female officers at a bank in those
days -- I am so impressed with the strong female nurturance and healthy
discipline of how he was raised that it always makes me doubt the sinister
motives attributed to him. I would think the unusually good consciousness
throughout his background got installed in his brain and his bones.
I personally know how hard it is -- despite great motivation and (so I was
told) high intelligence -- to overcome the opposite environment, in my life:
sarcasm and scorn, defeatism, and outright mental illness around me. I
would think it would be very difficult for somebody else who is smart and
motivated to separate himself from a deeply inculcated Healthy and
Humanitarian background.
And his obviousy vast comfort level at dealing with all the critical
situations and nasty people suggest to me he's got nothing to hide, he's not
being deceptive. I don't see how a man can behave so very comfortably if
he's always calculating how to "please his masters" or is always operating
from ulterior motives.
He certainly may be making some mistakes, but he's only been at the pinnacle
for 6 months and he's on a learning curve. Also, he admires aspects of
Lincoln, who said "keep your friends close and your enemies closer." It's
very possible he's doing that to start out with, in his presidency.
The other seemingly amazing mentally healthy thing about him is the schism
he has overcome, what with being raised totally White at home and yet
"looking very Negro" out in the world. Can you imagine being soaked in
white language and mannerisms and values at home, and then walking outside
and everybody suddenly treats you "like a black boy"?
You feel totally entitled to fit in with your mostly white classmates all
through school, but they look at you askance and no doubt often don't take
you seriously -- and treat you like an inferior. How could he feel like he
BELONGED anywhere -- so especially important when you're young?
And later, when quite a few black people contended that Obama "is not black
enough," I would have to say they have a point! He's had all the
appearance-disadvantages in the white world of being black, but all the
behavior-disadvantages in the black world of acting white -- which is how he
was raised, principally by white women.
If he had negative inclinations, his life certainly could've gone
irreversibly off-track over this great conflict, resulting in resentment,
bitterness, hurt -- and likely psychological pathology. But instead he
accepted the good parental guidance he was blessed with and chose to apply
himself towards constructive avenues. And there he succeeded -- in his
education, in his goals, and apparently, in his behavior.
If there have been some things covered up in that department -- and all
presidents have made sure they are -- I just know this: that despite my
own personal inclination to integrity and morality, there are some moments I
sure don't want on MY resume' ! There are no criminal incidents, but I
certainly could be reckless and foolish now and then -- and I wonder who
among us has not been, at least some few times.
But on record, Barack Obama has no strikes against him, his academic
timeline is impressive, his law professorship is impeccable, and his
community service for the South Side Chicago PEOPLE (while turning down
corporate positions and paychecks) is admirable.
And then along comes the lovely Michelle and adorable kids -- and I would
think the only problems he really has stem from just pure jealousy of him as
an outstanding human being. PLUS -- no doubt some shock now as president at
directly encountering much of the evil (which we've mostly had the luxury of
discovering only online)
I say, give him time. And anyway, what choice do we have? The hysteria
from the "birthers" and the "teabaggers" will eventually do themselves in --
and the momentum from the activists of 9/11 and the Bush/Cheney prosecutable
crimes will probably "bust wide open." Then -- a balanced being like Barack
Obama may just be the dude to guide all the shocked sheeple through it.
Opinion, you ask? Well, that's mine.
;)
