It is with a pointer at the code website. https://Code.SwimISCA.org/ A new post there features some cool wall art and a massive job list at Peloton in all sorts of roles and locations around the world. https://code.swimisca.org/peloton-is-hiring-posting-702-jobs/ I'm thinking of Jon's training zones and how Peloton has run with them. To compare and contrast would be an interesting read. Coach Jon Urbanchek is going to be honored in the ISCA Hall of Fame Banquet in August 2021. Wonder if he has a room in his home that is painted like this? Anyone ride Peloton? Find me and let's be Peloton buddies too. Wonder if we can hook Peloton into an investment into swimming too? You can always invent your own empowering thoughts, but it?s best to keep the basics in mind. - No matter what anyone says, you can achieve your goals. - You are responsible for your life. - Your past is not who you are. - When the tough days come, tell yourself that challenges are good. - When you do make a mistake, that it is okay. You learn from mistakes and apply those insights in the future. Once you have mastered these power thoughts, you?ll truly be on your way to transforming your life for the better. + + + If you care to share your empowering thoughts, the new topic in the Global Library for ISCA Members is available for your input. No announcements have been made. I have no idea what others think about this question too. Should an EXPECTATION for every person ATTENDING the IN-PERSON ISCA Clinic confirm that he / she has completed the vaccination protocol against Covid-19? This question would be contained in a code-of-conduct understanding. Think of a check box in advance and direct question upon entry as the badge is picked-up at registration. What's your take? You can reply to this email and your statement goes into the list archives, searchable on the internet, and the others on this small list would see your email message. Or, you could reply to just myself. This is a discussion list. cloh-news at six.pairlist.net Remember, we're only pondering this position at this point. How about a 1-10 scale, where #10 is that ISCA should TOTALLY enforce proof of vaccination. Message-ID: Hi, Rowing ERGs interaction with swimming programs gets its own lesson in the Global Library for ISCA Members with an article from the most recently announced Hall of Fame Coach, Jack Simon. Do you use Rowing ERGs with your athletes? Check out the lesson. https://read.swimisca.org/courses/global-library-for-isca-members/lessons/rowing-as-cross-training-for-swim-teams/ If you have any input, use the comment box on that page, then others that come by later get to see your input. = = The issue that I had with my team with rowing goes two ways. First, rowers often need to pass a swim test before they are taken out onto the water. They often hold swim tests with me at the pool and I sign off on their skills. That 'swim test' becomes an opportunity to play a quick SKWIM game and is also a way to introduce the rowing athletes to the possibility of joining their school's varsity swim team. Why not? Swimming can be a great cross-training activity for rowers too. Likewise water polo and SKWIM. We can, with swimming, be a big gateway to other sports activities. And, for that gateway to be productive, it needs to cross both ways -- to swimming and from swimming. Well, Jack's article is about using rowing as a support for the competitive swim program. = = = Bonus Q: Lastly, there has been some chatter about jobs and career. Are you seeing a lot of coaching job changes? Just wondering. -- Ta. (Okay to reply to me, Mark at Rauterkus.com, or this list for all to see.) = = = When coaching an athlete, always ask the following questions: - Is an athlete's wants-and-needs put into the first position of priorities? - Are the wants-and-needs of the sport-specific person put into the second position of priorities? - Or, is it a sport-specific person first and an athlete second? Perhaps good examples are: - Serena Williams, a great athlete who can play tennis well, and - Maria Sharapova, a great tennis player who is also an athlete. Once this question is answered, then the training and coaching strategies for the individual can be implemented with increased accuracy. Remember, coaching is from the neck up and training is from the neck down. This means that you coach the person (mind), train the athlete (body) and develop the skills. For each athlete, the question must be asked whether it is coaching the mind to match the fitness of the body, or is it a matter of training the body to match the fitness of the mind? While there is no right or wrong answer to any of these questions, ponder the question and your opinions as to the answers as these insights assist the coach in understanding the heart and mind of the individuals they are training. = = = = Reactions welcomed: From mark.rauterkus at gmail.com Fri Jun 4 08:12:29 2021 From: mark.rauterkus at gmail.com (Mark Rauterkus) Date: Fri, 4 Jun 2021 08:12:29 -0400 Subject: [CLOH-News] Are you into code? - Peloton - Training Zones Message-ID: Hi, We set up a website and a different email discussion list that has limited traffic to date called 412-pals-talk, that is dedicated to code matters.
