It is featured on the ISCA blog so anyone can view it: https://Blog.SwimISCA.org It is also within the Global Library for ISCA Members, in the Freestyle area. https://read.swimisca.org/courses/global-library-for-isca-members/lessons/freestyle/topic/entry-and-catch-biomechanics/ I love the video as it tells a story with a new coach who had been a swimmer in prior times with Kathleen and they had leaned upon the experience of Dr. Rod in the past. It has a sweet full circle impact. + + + In other news the July 2021 Senior meet is overflowing with entries. Do any of you use a Peloton? We got a bike in January Message-ID: Hi Coaches, Fitness news from Front Office Sports: - - snip starts - - Peloton is recalling its treadmills ? Tread and Tread+ ? as a result of mounting pressure following dozens of injuries and the death of a 6-year-old. *News of the recall sent Peloton?s stock tumbling below $83 on Wednesday,* an eight-month low. The stock had already dropped 22% from early April to market close on Tuesday. The connected fitness company is offering refunds for over 130,000 Tread+ machines ($4,295), and another 1,050 Treads ($2,495). Peloton is rolling out software updates to prevent machines from being turned on involuntarily and offering to move treadmills to a room inaccessible to children and pets in lieu of a recall. With a recent $100 million investment to scale up logistics and a growing number of challengers on the market, Peloton can ill afford a hit to its brand. - *A slew of competitors have received funding this year:* Tonal ($250 million), Tempo ($220 million), Ergatta ($30 million), Hydrow ($25 million), Motosumo ($6 million), and LIT Method (undisclosed). - The company is also dealing with revelations that all of its customer data is available to any member through a leak in its software API. Peloton CEO John Foley apologized for initially brushing off warnings from the Consumer Product Safety Commission. - - - end snip - - If any of you use a Peloton, send me a friend request. I'm Rauterkus. I like to ride six days most weeks, but I'm not really dialed into the whole zone things. It would be fun to chat about how they do it vs. what Jon has with the colors. Plus, there are many days when I just turn off the sound for a podcast and make up my own routine -- often racing my prior best performances. = = = Finally, a typo in the last email was so embarrassing for me: Sorry Coach Prindle. -- Ta. The course is simply a collection of various races (mostly) that are of significance. We've strung together some classics. In the pandemic, a coaching friend said he'd get with his swimmers and they'd have a Zoom call and they'd watch a race together while he was sharing his PC's screen. Then they'd talk about the race, the people, the strategies, the splits, the stroke rates, and such. He'd field questions and it was a great exercise in spreading the love of the sport and more. It would be great if some of your race suggestions could flow into this collection too. Even a city or regional or state championship race of merit can be super fun to watch, especially with the right introduction and debrief. The race videos are generally just YouTube links. You could author the set-up with an email or film it and upload it to your page too. Then let me know, and I'll plug it into the budding collection. Recently added is an interview with Mark Spitz with SwimSwam founder, Gold Medal Mel. And, for good measure I put in the 200-fly from 1968 when Spitz got -- well -- I don't want to be a spoiler. Also, I linked to a blog post from Rich Madge about 8 strange Olympic Swim Events. And, think about the weeks to come.I'm sure there are going to be some must see races at Trials that can be shared as a lesson in this course. You're invited to check out the course, and send along your races too for inclusion in the course. https://read.swimisca.org/courses/races-of-history/ -- Ta.
