Hi everyone.

Lots of less than stellar tidings. The saddest is that the beautiful and
much-loved dancer Rose Champagne is no longer with us. I can't even think
about this. What a sweet and loving person; what a lovely dancer.

A celebration of Rose's life will be held in the Congregational Church in
Southampton, Saturday, February 16 at 11am where friends and family are
invited to share their memories of Rose. Her obit and more information is

Second, Fazil's dance studio, a legendary venue (where I took class with
Bobby Farrah 35 years ago, and still took class with Elena as recently as
November), is closing its doors, due to the building's being sold. Looks
like they will relocate, but it will not be the same. For a glimpse of

Finally, my Valentines weekend gig has been canceled, so I am unable to be
in VT this week. So sad! I will miss seeing all of you! (though it is
brilliantly sunny and almost 70 here...)

However,
Weds, Feb 13, Belly Dances of Kindness, a benefit for Sky Island Farm in
Barnet, VT is on, and it will be a wonderful evening with lots of fabulous
dancers shaking it up for a good cause! Please come out and celebrate!
