I don't think that should stop us from working on multi-file sends. It 
is an argument for making them optional, though.

While there are all kinds of political feelings surrounding IRC, we 
really should focus on the technical questions instead. If a feature is 
going to be unpopular or otherwise politically "iffy", we can make it 
optional, but we shouldn't dismiss it offhand just because the larger 
clients might not get on board. Who knows, multi-file sends might 
*become* popular if they're supported by that 10% of IRC users.

ObPlug: ViRC has graphical smileys. Some people like them, some don't - 
so they're optional.
