From lmc at winsim.com Thu Aug 21 13:14:19 2008 From: lmc at winsim.com (Lynn McGuire) Date: Thu, 21 Aug 2008 12:14:19 -0500 Subject: [DesignII] Version 9.55 of DESIGN II for Windows Message-ID: <48ADA26B.8090205@winsim.com> This email is to notify you that version 9.55 of DESIGN II for Windows is now available on our website at www.winsim.com/download.html . This is a maintenance release of DESIGN II for Windows. This new release has the following changes: 1. You can now duplicate the hydrocarbon pure components in the selected components. The duplicated pure components can be named unique names (such as "methane" and "foreign methane"). The immiscible pure components (water, methanol, etc) and the general usage components (chemical, petroleum fraction, solid, id's 100 - 999) are not duplicatable. 2. Zooming the display using the mouse thumb wheel will now zoom the display from the mouse point instead of the center of the drawing. When the flowsheet view is zoomed, the view will now be moved and updated as the scrollbars are moved or the arrow keys are pressed. 3. Fixed Liquid 1 Flowrate display on flowsheet for streams. 4. Fixed the slow redrawing of graphical symbols and dialogs when graphical symbols were used on multi-sheet flowsheets. 5. Fixed the display of the Reboiler Internal Streams in the stream data box. 6. Fixed the Filename printout problem on certain flowsheet sizes (A/A4/C) when the flowsheet is printed. 7. All Air (Component #99) flowrate is now replaced with a mixture of 79% N2 / and 21% O2 flowrates. If Nitrogen or Oxygen are not present in the component list then they are automatically added. 8. Fixed a water miscibility prediction issue for a non-ideal mixture stream temperature. This fix resolved the CURve INCrement results also in the Heat Exchanger unit module. 9. Fixed a problem with the feed stream water saturation flash being carried over from one feed stream to other feed streams for a certain flowsheet. 10. Fixed a problem in the Inline Fortran that was preventing access to the internal memory banks in DESIGN II (specifically the CHRA bank). 11. Miscellaneous small enhancements and fixes (see release notes http://www.winsim.com/media/relnotes.chm ) If you are on MSS or a Program Usage Agreement, then please download the new version. The new CDs should start going out in a couple of days. Just to let you know, we are working on version 10.00 of DESIGN II for Windows to be released sometime this fall. Here are a few of the improvements that we are planning on including: 1. Merging the line arrows into the streams in the user interface (no more trying to click on the stream and getting the line arrow instead) 2. Conversion of the cascading dialogs into tabbed dialogs in the user interface (a lot fewer mouse clicks !) 3. A packed distillation column unit module 4. A DMPEG (Selexol (R), Coastal AGR (R), Genosorb (R) 1753) Equation of State 5. Full user interface for the Batch Distillation Column unit module 6. About 150 new pure components (a total of 1100 or so) We are looking for more public domain data concerning vapor - liquid equilibrium between DMPEG and H2S, CO2, hydrocarbons. If anyone knows of any, I would appreciate you forwarding it to me (lmc at winsim.com). Something like http://www.ogj.com/articles/save_screen.cfm?ARTICLE_ID=207957 ) would help us very much to complete the new DMPEG Equation of State. Please note that we have a web-based tutorial for DESIGN II for Windows at http://www.winsim.com/tutorial/index.htm . Please note that the Password algorithm was changed for the 9.50 release. Your new password should have been emailed to the contact person for your account. If you need a new password, please contact support at winsim.com with your serial number for your new password if you are on MSS or a Usage agreement. You may testdrive the new release by downloading it (68 MB) from our website and installing it. Run DESIGN II for Windows and a dialog will come up with your Computer ID and ask you for a Serial Number and Password. You can get a Serial Number and Password emailed to you from www.winsim.com/gen2wkps.html on a 24 hour a day, 7 days a week basis. Our next free half day training class will be on Friday, September 5, 2008 at our office here in Sugar Land, Texas. There are still a couple of seats open.
