/*After GOD had finished addressing Job, He turned to Eliphaz the
Temanite and said, "I've had it with you and your two friends. I'm fed
up! You haven't been honest either with me or about me -- not the way my
friend Job has." -- Job 42:7 from The Message*/
I like this rendering of this verse because it reminds us that God
invites our struggle with Him. Job engaged God honestly. No, he didn't
have a clue about many things and neither do we. But Job didn't settle
for pat answers and comfortable theology. He led the way to authenticity.
If you haven't already come to a place where life and God don't make any
sense, you will. It happens to all of us sooner or later. When it does,
it's reassuring to know that God is okay with our sleepless nights of
hard questions.
It's out on the lake, when the wind is blowing and the waves have risen
to swamp our boat of life, when God-in-the-flesh is sleeping and we are
helpless, and all we know to do is to cry out, "Master, don't you care
... ?" -- this is when and where we discover who God really is.
Be encouraged!
