Some of you have tasted and seen that life is bad. Life is cruel. Life 
is unfair. But the Lord extends an invitation to experience something 
bigger than life. Taste and see that the LORD is good.

In our book, Amazing Faith, my coauthor Thomas Shaw tells the story of a 
woman who experienced one bad thing after another until finally she was 
flat on her back with a broken back and in great pain. A Christian radio 
station was on, but instead of bringing her comfort, it only brought her 
irritation. She longed to get up to turn it off, but she didn't have the 
strength to do so. So she was stuck listening to a crazy story about a 
woman making a carrot cake.

Carrot cake: The ingredients, by themselves, were disgusting. But, 
combined and baked, the product was delicious.

In her pain, this woman suddenly realized that the Lord was speaking to 
her. Her mouth was clamped down on one of the distasteful ingredients of 
life - and there was no room for her to taste the love of God.
