/*For God does speak -- now one way, now another -- though man may not
perceive it. -- Job 33:14*/

Why doesn't God speak in bold type? Why do we need to look in the fine
print of our lives to find Him?

I am reminded of my grandmother. She was less than five feet tall. When
guests arrived she had enormous talent for moving them to center stage
and disappearing almost entirely herself. She was there only to serve,
to place a tray of food before them, to speak a quiet word of kindness
and then to fade back into the background.

If you didn't know her, you would miss her. Others would dominate and
she would be misplaced in the noise of their presence. But to know her
was to be drawn to her, to overlook all the glitter of the party and to
find one plain woman who knew the law of kindness.

I guess I had a special relationship with my grandma. Even at the end of
her life (she lived to be 102), after two strokes had robbed her almost
of life itself, she still talked to me, even when she had stopped
talking to nearly everyone else.

I sense it is this way with God. He chooses to be unobtrusive, almost
always in the background. We can be swept away by the noise of life, and
He watches quietly, waiting to see if we will listen to His gentle whisper.

Be encouraged!
Dwight
