Well, folks, today is my 50^th birthday. Ancient to some of you, spring 
chicken to others. To me, it's quite a journey.

I can be a natural pessimist. Like someone on the web wrote about 
Eyeore, I can "find the dark cloud behind every silver lining."

As I look over my life, there are so many reasons why I wish I could go 
back to my twenties. I wish I could push "rewind." But, of course, I can't.

One day I was feeling a deep sadness about all this. I was trying to 
explain it all to God, and to myself. After listening to me for a while, 
the Lord spoke to me and said, "You're only going to be old once. After 
that, you'll be young forever."

When God speaks to me, I almost always start laughing. Here's why. As 
soon as I get to God, all of my melancholy despair dissolves into His 
ocean of joy.

"What are you worried about, Dwight? The next fifty years are going to 
be an adventure just like the first fifty were. Come on, take My hand, 
this is going to be fun."

And so, I say to you, enjoy the adventure.
