/*Night and day among the tombs and in the hills he would cry out and
cut himself with stones. - Mark 5:5*/

We arrive here just after the storm on the Sea of Galilee. Jesus calmed
the wind and the waves. I think we all remember that God brought the
disciples through the storm so they might see a clearer picture of who
Jesus is.

Today I'd like to look at the storm from the perspective of this
desperate, demonized man. Here is a man who was in torment. He had no
rest day or night. He was driven away from people and had no one to
share his suffering with. He was lonely and in terrible pain. Jesus went
through the storm for him. Jesus left crowds that were clamoring to hear
his teaching. He left sick people who had not yet been made well. He
went all the way across the lake, through a terrible storm, in order to
touch this one man.

This man was naked and bleeding, dirty and disgusting to everyone. But
Jesus didn't cross the lake to shame him. He didn't blame or condemn him
for having demons. All I see in Him is great compassion.

Many of us carry burdens, secret shame, buried fears, aching loneliness.
If that is you, here is my word to you: Jesus went through the storm for
you. He has crossed over to your side of the lake. He is here to set you
free.

Be encouraged!
