I totally agree. I have not had great experiences with the BIG. We have
purchased the EZ IO and have had great success. I would highly recommend the
EZ IO. Have used the FAST in the past, but prefer EZ IO.

Hi,
I'm new to this group. Re: my experiences with I/O access devices. I
have used the BIG several times and with very limited success. My
colleagues in 2 different agencies share the same opinion. This is
despite new literature supporting differences in insertion points in
adults vs. peds pt.'s. My experiences with the FAST have all been
positive. One good saline flush after the device is inserted leads to
a steady IV flow. We have RSI'd several pt.s vis the FAST route and
the absorption of the meds appears to be as quickly as an IV. Based
on these experiences and with the positive reports and training with
the EZ I/O device, the programs I am affiliated with are (3) are
abandoning the BIG and utilizing the EZ I/O and some will continue to
use the FAST as and alternative device.
