"Why I go to work"

I go to to work everyday like everyone else "hoping to make a difference" -
Being a neonatal transport nurse I realize that I am meeting most of these
parents on the worst day of their lives. Many of them did not expect a
preemie, a sick baby, birth defects, unforseen problems, etc. I come into
their world as a complete stranger that they now have to put their trust in
to care for their fragile infant. I can't imagine what it would be like to
have a sick baby and then have it taken away by someone you don't know. My
last words, always, to all parents are "I will take good care of your
baby" - I strive to do my absolute best on every transport to fulfill that
and not let them down. That's one of the ways that I try to "make a
difference"........
