Orientation duration

It varies greatly, depending on background. We don't interview anyone without a minimum of 4+ years tertiary level icu - trauma center experience. Minimally it's 3 months which includes orientation in our icu (which ever they don't already have experience in). Flight training both fixed and rotor is on top of that.

We have new flight nurses in orientation for about three months.

I'm trying to get a feel for how long people keep their new,
inexperienced flight nurses, medics, and RTs on orientation prior to
cutting them loose. What's your program's usual practice?
