Hi Michelle, I work at Airlift Northwest in Seattle and we do fly over alot of water. There are two types we use primarily, Stormy Seas and Mustangs. I don't believe the Stormy Seas are Coast Guard certified but they lie flatter on the body and the women say they feel better. I use the Mustang PFD. I learned about it from one of our Rotary Wing pilots and he used them thru out his military career. They are a bit "bulkier" but have great support, roll you over automatically if you end up face down and have a heavy metal D ring for clipping onto a hoist.
There are others out there but look these up on the web and see what you and the staff think.
