Our church is small, but we attend youth functions that are sometimes in the 3000+ at our church camp. Of course, the camp is in a rural area with a smaller 911 system, and would be a real burden for them with the "minor" types of calls. Without a medical director, we carry a jump bag with AED, but nothing else in it that anyone off the street couldn't use. My first temptation was to include IV, fluids, etc etc, but in my opinion it's the responder's training and common sense that makes the biggest difference. All our responders are EMT, Medic or RN with the ability to do some basic triage and start CPR/AED until the local service arrives. Quite frankly, coordinating these events is the hardest work I think I've ever done on a shift! Julie L.
