Train wreck transports your flight teams have had ... feel free to add another level to their "badness".  Lol.

Scenarios based on a protocol you dont use much and include skills/procedures that may have just introduced to your crew or that your medical director wants to see you are doing.

Scott,

As someone who has had experience with simulation training in the aviation field, I can tell you that errors, catastrophic events and mitigation can be related to external inputs not connected to actual medical competency.? As an example in the transport field, scenarios can and perhaps should include scenarios based on those weird stories that we may experience individually and hope that nobody else has to deal with (in a long range fixed wing transport, a family member/pax going nuts or suddenly requiring medical attention themselves). Quite often, its a mix of sounds and smells or unexpected hazards that confuses the candidate.? You may want to mix the standard competency training with changes in the physcial environment.

I think with aviation what they do is compound the issues - engine failure at V1, uncontrolled engine fire, control issues on effected wing, windshear on landing, zero breaking and steering -

Hello Scott,

1) We've had some Ambu-branded airway manikins that, well, left something to be desired (what's left of them). We've seemed to have had better experiences with Laerdal products. As with anything, your mileage may vary.

2) The NREMT's "Alternative Airway Device (Supraglottic Airway)" testing check-list is actually quite good (2011 revision), especially for the King. Our ground EMS agencies are purchasing a number of TruCorp airway heads. They come in the usual sizes. While not perfect, we think they are the most anatomically correct mannikins on the market. Additionally, the company seems willing to make suggested improvements in the models. They are excellent demonstrators of nasal intubation and all alternate airway devices.

Greetings - Hoping for insight from other programs with an EC135 - Our primary ship is a Dauphin, but our backup is now an EC135 P2 model - The issue we are now coming across is being able to fly (3) medical staff & an isolette - So...1) what are other programs doing with this situation in a EC135? (any photos would be great as well)
2) other options we're investigating include
a) medical crew flies out without isolette & have ambulance drive isolette out to the hospital & then return with baby by ground
b) medical crew drives out to the referring hospital & then aircraft comes to pick us up with the isolette (after burning off fuel)
?
any experiences truly appreciated
?
