Being *used* to MS Office wasn't too big a deal. I found it limited in functionality compared to MS Office. Openoffice - a bit more complex to install but far more functional, more comparable to MS Office. Staroffice - never touched it and don't have an intel mac... Neo office I found to be a decent substitute but lacked some functionality I was used to. I installed openoffice and it was like trying to use Gimp instead of Photoshop, my fingers are just used to certain keystrokes to get things done. I don't like having to take my hands off the keyboard to use the mouse so shortcut keys are big for me. Re-learning those is tough. Openoffice was fine, worked good and did a lot of things that surprised me. Interoperability with MS Office still isn't there, formatting suffers greatly between suites. I have noticed that it starts a little slower than my Microsoft Office program. It is not at polished as MS Office. But... I really enjoy using it. I own 3 computers at work, and 2 at home and I refuse to pay for Office on each one. Openoffice has allowed me to do all of my normal word processing, spreadsheet documents with no problem. One thing that I like, that MS Office just added is direct printing of PDF's. No need for other converters. But I have not used a Mac since college, 1995, so I cant say how they work on them. Just a thought, but iWork is what I use instead of MS Office. And yes, there are a number of annoying incompatibilities... but given the price of M$ Office and the price of OpenOffice, I have been very happy with OpenOffice. I know there are a lot of Mac users that use OpenOffice. If you are a power user of M$Office then nothing else will really do. --bill Andrew Carlson wrote: > Neo Office is interesting, its based on Java but installs quickly, > loads ok.
