Second driveway on your right is a service road back in to the oil/gas storage tank. These are all open space fields that Jules Van Thuyne farms. I have his number if necessary. Access to this field is perfect AND the field slopes much like an amphitheater does with beautiful views of the front range and Longs Peak. MetLife came by this field 7-8 years ago and shot for something they were doing, claimed it was the "Best field of Sunflowers in Colorado" - but that's all hearsay. greggl On Aug 3, 2009, at 11:01 AM, William D. In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <54566B8F-9724-48C1-B4BA-E55B3ABD3901@lowrimore.com> Thanks, Dave. For the $1500, I'd say either wait for the D300's to start being dumped by current owners (looking to upgrade to the D300s or even the ever decreasing D700's price point), or go with the D90 and save $600 out of that $1500. I bought my D90 with the 70-300 VR II lens for $1400 out the door from Adorama. And I've rarely taken this beautiful lens off this exceptional camera. The D90 uses the same Exceed processor, an almost identical sensor to the D300 (if not identical), it just doesn't have the rugged titanium/magnesium alloy body and a few bells and whistles that the D300 comes with standard. Then again, the D3/D300/D700 don't shoot HD Video (720) either! Now, since I was upgrading from my D100's technology, this was a HUGE improvement for me. The D100's technology from circa 2000/2001 was just incredibly old compared to the D90 with circa 2007/2008 technology/circuitry. The difference was as big as night and day. But my point is, using the D90 and say that 70-300 VR II lens, you wouldn't need to go buy/rent/borrow that expensive glass to get great shots of the troop. You could let the ISO float and still capture low- light images of the action. You won't have to be afraid of high ISO settings like we've been with the D100/D80s. And ISO can once again become a quality part of every day shooting--just like in the film days. The only thing I would have liked to have had in a new camera would be the frames per second burst rate for sports/action. The D90 does well at 4.5fps, but it's not a D3 (9+fps), yet it's as good as or better than the burst rates from the D200/D300/D700, plus it's 12.3mp fixed. If you want to get together to check out this combination before buying, let me know. Hope this helps, greggl On Aug 5, 2009, at 10:17 PM, Dave Taylor wrote: >> Might I suggest the D90 for roughly half the price? This morning I sweetened the deal, offering $50 off for Twitter folk, as I also dropped the listing onto Craigslist: http://boulder.craigslist.org/pho/1314992829.html I just sold it to someone local for $750.
