GRAPHICS COLLECTIVE POSTER UPDATE
The Herstory Project is still testing our new printer and setting up
our online ordering. Thanks for your patience. We are also
investigating how we may use Graphics Collective images on coffee
mugs and refrigerator magnets. We see posters and mugs etc. as our
only source of funding besides donations from our supporters.
The Chicago Women's Graphics Collective began as a workgroup of the
Chicago Women's Liberation Union and distributed tens of thousands of
feminist posters worldwide until it disbanded in the early 1980's

SO WHAT'S NEW ON THE HERSTORY SITE?
We've been mostly working on fundraising and setting up the poster
ordering operation so there is not much to report. Our site traffic
took a summer vacation and slumped into the 20-25,000 pages a month
range but jumped up to 37,000 pages in September with the traditional
return to school.
We updated our Feminist Salon at http://www.cwluherstory.com/phpweb/
with new articles including:
- a story on the state of feminist bookstores today
- a story on women journalists in Mozambique
- a criticism of the NY Times and its coverage of NOW and the NWPC
- a blurb describing the new book "Sticking to the Union "
- an article about the soon-to-be- retired breast cancer stamp
- a personal essay about abuse in relationships
Our Feminist Salon spotlights modern feminism. We urge you to
contribute news, essays, poems, reviews, editorials and fiction that
you may have written. We're open to just about anything feminist
related. We get a modest, but steady stream of visitors.

throughout her long and vibrant life. The forward is by Amy

Winds of Peace: A Quaker story of healing the wounds of My Lai
On March 16, 1968, American soldiers led by Lt. William Calley
massacred 504 Vietnamese men, women and children in the tiny hamlet
of My Lai. The incident stands as one of the most horrific war crimes
committed by U.S. forces in the Viet Nam War, one that many Americans
would like to put behind them.
In 1998, 30 years after the massacre at My Lai, the Madison Wisconsin
Quakers, working with the Women's Union of Quang Ngai Province and
the Quang Ngai Province People's Committee, broke ground for the My
Lai Peace Park. The Madison Quakers also have raised funds to build a
primary school and dental clinic, to move homes to more fertile lands
with fruit and nut trees, to dig wells, to provide classes for
illiterate adults and to improve health care services.
Mike Boehm, a Vietnam veteran and Madison Quaker, will discuss these
efforts to bring about reconciliation between peoples.
