HELP THE HERSTORY PROJECT TEST ITS NEW ONLINE SHOPPING CART OF
CLASSIC FEMINIST POSTER IMAGES
As you probably know, many of the classic Chicago Women's Graphics
Collective images are now available again on the CWLU Herstory
website. However, visitors to the site must download a form and mail
it in with their payment.
We now have an online shopping cart with credit card ordering , but
we need you to look it over and test it before it goes "public".
Please visit http://www.cwluherstory.org/CWLUMarket/ccp51/ and then
tell us what you think. You may use the "Contact Us" web form on the
site or e-mail infogal at cwluherstory.org. Please alert us to any typos
or factual errors you find. Let us know if you find anything
confusing or if something does not work as you expect.
As an incentive, we are offering a 10% discount on any shopping cart
orders from now until February 15 as a way to help us test the online
catalog before it goes public.
The Chicago Women's Graphics Collective began as a workgroup of the
Chicago Women's Liberation Union and distributed tens of thousands of
feminist posters worldwide until it disbanded in the early 1980's

BITCH MAGAZINE RUNS AN ARTICLE ABOUT THE MOUNTAIN MOVING DAY ALBUM
In 1972, the Chicago Women's Liberation Rock Band and its sister
band, the New Haven Women's Liberation Rock Band, cut a classic album
called Mountain Moving Day. BITCH magazine has a long article by
Jennifer Baumgartner in its Winter 2004 issue about both bands.
Inexplicably, the article fails to mention that the music of both
bands is available on the Herstory site along with articles and
photos. Anyway, if you actually want to hear these bands as well as
read about them, visit
http://www.cwluherstory.com/CWLUGallery/rock.html. You may listen
using the Quicktime browser plug-in or download MP3's of all the
songs on the album.

WOMEN'S MONTH IS COMING TO UIC
Every year the University of Illinois at Chicago puts on a month-long
series of women's events. We don't have all the details, but we do
know that Jennifer Abod and Angela Bowen will appear on February 26.
They produced the video "The Edge of Each Other's Battles" about
feminist writer Audre Lorde. Jennifer Abod was in the New Haven
Women's Liberation Rock Band.
In addition, Amy Goodman, a radio-tv journalist with the alternative
media outlet "Democracy Now!", will be speaking at the opening
reception on March 2.
We'll have more details in the next issue. Herstory coordinator
Estelle Carol is working with the UIC Women's Affairs Office on
publicity.

BOOK!
Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi
A stunning graphic novel about growing up in Iran after the fall of
the Shah. This book gets past the stereotypes about Iran and delves
into the complexity of being a woman in that nation. Highly
recommended.
