NEW WORKSTATION FOR HERSTORY INTERNS AND VOLUNTEERS

A beautiful new computer workstation is now available on the 2nd
floor of Estelle Carol's building in Oak Park. Her studio/office is
on the third floor. There is a Mac 7600, a new monitor, a scanner and
a CD burner. There are plans to add a printer. Student volunteers
usually earn independent study credit through UIC or their own
school. We need volunteers to help us:

- Scan new documents and add them to the website
- write and edit text on the site
- help publicize our poster fundraising campaign

Please contact us at infogal at cwluherstory.org.

HERSTORY PROJECT RECEIVES HISTORICAL PHOTOS

A tip of the feminist hat to Kathy Mallin for sending us two CD's
worth of wonderful historic photos. Kathy, a former CWLU health
activist, sent us photos from a 1976 Chicago community health fair
that featured CWLU participation, a Midwest reproductive rights
march and the 1976 national socialist feminist conference.

Last year we received photos of the Chicago Women's Liberation Rock
from former band member Pat Matthews. These have not made it to the
Herstory site because our older model scanner could not handle the
transparencies.. Pat, if you are reading this, we haven't forgotten
you. We have a new transparency scanner, so we will be working on
your photos soon.

WORLD FEMINISM: A NEW FORUM FOR INTERNATIONAL FEMINISM, IS SEEKING WRITERS

World Feminism provides a new forum for international feminist
writing and activity. World Feminism is a non-profit, Internet-based
project. The website is aimed at an international audience and
discusses subjects that men and women of all nationalities can relate
to.

Besides covering interesting and often controversial subjects, World
Feminism allows new writers to have their work published and to
retain rights over their submissions. To this end, all submitted work
is considered for publication, whether solicited or not. World
Feminism seeks to bring vital new literature to the attention of a
wider public.

GETTING PAID TO CAUSE TROUBLE: CAREERS IN SOCIAL JUSTICE

Are you interested in changing the world after graduation, but not
sure where to start? Come to a career forum for troublemakers.

The event will include short presentations from young organizers
representing a variety of community organizations and progressive
unions. The forum will be both educational, with panelists describing
organizing as a career in their particular arenas, and vocational, in
that some of the groups will be looking to hire or take on interns.
The organizers pulled this together because they are keenly aware of
how current pipelines direct students to business, graduate school,
and professional school, but leave those interested in social change
having to improvise, and often giving up on their hopes.

Saturday May 22nd, 11 am-2 pm
Roosevelt University CPA Bldg. Gage Gallery, 1st floor
18 S. Michigan Ave. (between Madison and Monroe)

Sponsored by the Center for Working Class Studies
