Exactly.  There are successors, but the whole ball of wax is held
together by a gentlemen's agreement.  Very honorable gentlemen, but
also very practical.  And from stories told here, men who made
mistakes in the early 1970's and are still trying to sort out the ill
will and hard feelings generated.
