I tend to agree.  1500-2011 had a huge technological increase in time keeping and other arts and sciences.  I imagine that 500 years from now will have an even bigger leap.  They will have different needs from time than we have, just as we have different needs from time than the folks in 1500 had. Heck, we have different needs from time than the folks in 1950 had, and that's still in living memory.
