You won't have to wait too much John as I just did a port of your Perl
code to PHP in my spare time during the last two days. It's a
feature-for-feature and bug-for-bug complete clone of version 1.0b4 you
published this week.
Everyone can try it here: <http://www.michelf.com/php-markdown/>. There
is also a link at the bottom of the page that sends you the php file as
plain text so you can take a look. I'll improve the PHP Markdown pages
soon.
