I like bob's suggestion that classes should be added by default, as in
the rare cases you wish to add other attributes an extra class won't
really hurt -- though the use of {1}, {2}, {3} etc. would be ruled out
as CSS doesn't allow class names to begin with digits (or hyphens).
I'm not sure if this would just be silently ignored or cause
validation problems.

However, I'd propose {name} and {#name} for class="name" and id="name"
respectively.
