It just strikes me now that if a syntax for custom attributes is  
added and works with code blocks it could be used to distinguish two  
consecutive code blocks. For instance:

         Code block
     {.php}

         Code block

And this might work if you don't need any attribute:

         Code block
     {}

         Code block
