I guided an ascent of the First Ascent Route on the Grand Sentinel yesterday, August 7th. My guest and I partnered up with a recreation parry of two who walked with us to the Sentinel, followed us up the route and descended to the car with us. We traveled as a party  of four as per the Grizzly bear restrictions.

Getting to the Sentinel from Sentinel Pass we followed a high trail that crossed four snow slopes and required a lot of step kicking. On the way back we took a lower trail that crossed the bottom of two of the snow slopes and was a better trail that did not demand as much step kicking, or present as much fall-away threat. I will take the lower trail both ways next time I'm there. My first climb of the Grand Sentinel and it is a fine route.
