[MCR] Rogers Pass Conditions, June 25, 2013

Public Mountain Conditions Report mcr at informalex.org
Tue Jun 25 15:15:01 EDT 2013

Hello Everyone,

Up until the past few days of wet weather, the conditions have been quite
good on southerly and west facing alpine rock routes and ridges and much of
the alpine is showing signs of coming into respectable shape for this time
of the year.

Primary candidates have been the West Ridge and south facing routes on
Tupper and the west facing routes on Mt. MacDonald as of the last few weeks
with up to a half dozen ascents on each. Snow was present within 25
minutes walk from the crossing at Connaught Creek to the Herdman Couloir
approach (as of June 17th); facilitating good travel on firm packed
avalanche debris to approach the west routes on MacDonald. Expect some
deeper foot pen in rain saturated or shallower snow pack areas.

Snowline at the Fidelity is 1900 meters and roughly the same in
Mt.Revelstoke Park.

Roger's Peak in the Hermitt drainage is looking good as well as a few other
classic snow and ice objectives in the Asulkan.

With improving alpine conditions and intact infrastructure, the Roger's
Pass is a good place to enjoy the high country with the promising forecast
this week.

Best Regards,
