Hello,

Just back from 7 days on the alpine mountaineering block of the Mountain Skills Semester and the summit day of the Snow and Ice weekend w fellow guides Pat Delaney and Johnny Simms respectively.

The past 4 days the Icefields has undergone a significant cycle. Snow accumulation of up to 50cm occurred Thursday to Saturday. Clear weather and warmer temps on Sunday initiated a wide spread avalanche cycle on the previous temperature crust up to Sz 2.
Recreational parties attempting the AA Col route to Athabasca were turned around by avalanches on the west slopes of the mountain.

A reasonable refreeze this am allowed an ascent of Boundary Peak however we were still plagued w breakable crust and boot pen up to 20cm.

Overcast today w new snow accumulation of up to 5cm on yesterday's temp crust.
