[MCR] White man falls

Had a trip into Whiteman Falls today with Ian Welsted.

The road from the gate to the turn off towards the falls is snow free with a few thin strips of thin verglas style ice.

The snow was sufficiently supportive this morning heading up the creek.

The approach ice is marginal but usable, it looked worse on our way up so we opted for a mixed traverse to reach the second section of ice and the bolted anchor. I would suggest using caution but climbing the direct ice line instead.

When we came down, the ice looked and felt reasonable. However, there is an open pool at the base. It looks waist deep.

The falls looked wet with an opening in the tube near the top, left of the climbing line.

We did not climb the falls as we were there to climb some new mixed ground, so I'm uncertain if the tube is open near the top. I assume it is.

Redman soars is nearly all dry, not much ice on the first pitch.

A nice day for dry tooling and moss stabbing!

Cheers
