Hi Folks

This was a fabulous day to test your rain-gear, as we were blessed with an
endless supply of 'liquid sunshine' followed by wet snow.

On the hike in from Takakkaw Falls to the Burgess Shale Quarry site ( via
Whiskey Jack Trail, Yoho Lake and Pass, Wapta Highline to quarry) were many
muddy sections and water crossings on the trails, particularly between Yoho
Lake and Pass, which made it most difficult to keep your boots dry.
However, on return in the afternoon, a surprising amount of water had
already drained, which made travel much easier.

Given the next few days sunny weather forecast, trails should improve
rapidly and can be enjoyed by anyone planning to hike in that area.
Yoho Lake campsite is in good condition, with only very few, small puddles
here and there.

OF NOTE: On an otherwise public trail system, you can ONLY access the
Burgess Shale Quarry (above Wapta Highline Trail) through a guided hike
with Parks Canada or the Burgess Shale Geoscience Foundation.

Happy Trails, Martina Wakeman
