Warm day on the East slope of the Rockies and yet we kinda froze in the strong Chinook coming from the NW. We climbed most of “The Doors of Perception” but bailed right to easier ground when we got too cold to hang around the belays. Lots of small rocks being blown around by the wind.
Good conditions all over the Coire Dubh basin. The ice is still there and plastic. The rock is mostly dry. The snow is still surprisingly unconsolidated in places and mostly only firm in the old steps or on the hard windslabs. Hard to imagine an avalanche there before the next storm unless it gets really warm and you are in a very solar heated south facing corner of the bowl. (Where it is probably already dry:)
The descent is dry but as nasty and as long a pounding as ever.
