Thanks for the response, Jim.  One more question, regarding the turntable.

On page 20 of "The Arrow" (Sept/Oct, 1998) is a photo of Percival's Island or
Island Yard of Lynchburg, VA, looking eastward downstream at the James River.
  With this orientation, was the turntable on the left side of the island,
just after the right curve off the bridge from Lynchburg, and approximately 7
boxcar lengths from the main lines?
